Kiwanis Community Day To Be Held October 1

The Kiwanis Club of Phoenixville will hold its annual Community Day in Reeves Park on Saturday, October 1st from 8 AM to 3 PM. The day will feature of a large flea market made of many groups and organizations in the Phoenixville community offering information about their activities and sales of food, collectibles and household items.

The Kiwanis Club will again offer a Chicken BBQ Dinner for $10. Tickets are being sold in advance by members of the club as well as this year’s Kiwanis Partners. The theme for this year’s Community Day is “Advancing Academics & Music Education for PAHS Students”. The Kiwanis Club is partnering with the PAHS Band and with the Destinations with directions Student Organization. All profits from Community Day will benefit these school organizations as well as the many community programs provided by the Kiwanis Club in the Phoenixville Community.

Several Local Businesses Closing Up Shop

Over the next couple of months, three local businesses will be closing their doors. On Saturday, February 16th, Polka Dots will be closing their store at 246 Bridge Street. The shop, a women's clothing boutique, opened nearly two and a half years ago but has recently found business slow. --- Originally, (owner Susan) Randels said that the store was doing well, but that the momentum could not keep up. "The things that sold in Paoli didn't sell in Phoenixville," she said, adding that some customers thought that the store was too expensive or the sizing did not go high enough (size 12 being the highest size sold). "We tried everything."
