The Pennsylvania Philharmonic Presents “American Roots"

On Friday, December 29 at 7:30 the Pennsylvania Philharmonic will present “American Roots: New Orleans, New York, Chicago, and more!” at the Phoenixville Area Middle School. The concert will celebrate original American Music: from Broadway Musicals of NYC and Jazz clubs of Chicago, to brass bands of New Orleans and soundtracks of Hollywood. With selection from Gershwin, Duke Ellington, Louis Armstrong, Leonard Bernstein, John Williams (and more), there will be something for everyone to enjoy. There are multiple tiers of tickets available for this performance, including: $10 child/student, $28 general admission, $42 prime center orchestra, and $100 VIP experience with a pre-concert dinner, a chance to mingle with members of the orchestra, and the best seats in the house. An Evening of Hope

Come out this Saturday evening to An Evening of Hope, a benefit to raise funds for Manor of Hope . Manor of Hope, a long-term therapeutic community for young men battling the disease of addiction in our surrounding communities, sets itself apart from traditional drug rehabilitation programs because its long-term curriculum provides individuals with the opportunity to re-wire their minds, rejuvenate their bodies and refresh their spirits. The event, which will be held from 6-10pm at Franklin Commons , will feature appetizers and dinner followed by a silent auction, music and dancing. Local Business Spotlight: Manor of Hope

Manor of Hope is a long term residential addiction rehab support program for young men. Located in a beautifully renovated farmhouse on Egypt Road in Phoenixville, Manor of Hope is a state of the art drug and alcohol recovery community that offers long term treatment and continuing care for young men with substance abuse issues. The owner/mastermind of the Manor of Hope, Steve Killelea, dealt with his own son's addiction problem for over 10 years. Steve tried to help his son and sent him to many places, only to have him relapse - until he decided to look outside the US and in Canada found a "therapeutic community" where his son John found sobriety. Their program model inspired both Steve and John to create their own version right here in Phoenixville. They also have created the "Building Futures" program which partners with small local businesses to help mentor and teach the young men vocational skills. "Better Together" - Church Street Block Party

The Better Together Church Street Block Party is a gathering of over 25 local non-profits and small businesses that serve the greater Phoenixville Area. Come out and learn about the wonderful local non-profits doing great things in your community, and enjoy great food, music, and activities for the whole family! The Main Event will take place in the parking lot of the Phoenixville Area Senior Center, 153 Main Street. The Phoenixville Fire Department, A Baby's Breath, and Code Blue Overnight Emergency Warming Center will have Open Houses. There will be face painting, balloons, kids' crafts, story hour, a performance by the wonderful Firebird Theatre, a DJ, and much more! Phoenixville YMCA Hosting Father's Day Family Field Day

On Sunday, June 18th (Father's Day) from 1-4pm, the Phoenixville YMCA will be hosting a Father's Day Family Field Day. This free community event will feature games, open swim and family competitions. Registration and swim testing begin at noon or you can pre-register online or in person at the Y. Some notes: No one under 12 is admitted without an adult guardian. All participants 16 and under must have a swim band issued by the Phoenixville Y. If not already completed after 4/28/2017, testing is required. A signed waiver is required at registration/check-in. Historical Society Hosting Strawberry Festival This Saturday

On Saturday, June 10th, the Historical Society of Phoenixville we be hosting a Strawberry Festival and Flea Market. From their email: Festival: Saturday, June 10, 10am-3pm Flea Market: Saturday, June 10, 8am-2pm Join us for our annual Strawberry Festival benefiting the Historical Society of the Phoenixville Area! We will have a light lunch and plenty of ice cream and strawberries available as well as a bake sale, balloon sculptures for the kids by Balloon Magic, and Ted the Fiddler. There's also a flea market that opens at 8am, so shop early and stay for some delicious strawberries! Free event! Camphill Café Earth Day Dinner & CSA Memberships Available

Camphill Village Kimberton Hills’ Camphill CafĂ© announces an Earth-to-Table dinner , in celebration of Earth Day. The dinner will feature meat and vegetables grown and raised in the community. Introduction to Swing and Beginner/Intermediate Swing Dance Classes Starting Soon

POTTSTOWN, PA -- Swing Kat Entertainment announces a new session of swing dance classes will begin the week of March 20th. Introduction to Swing, with five-week and ten-week options, is open to adults and teens who have never danced before. During the full session, students will learn the essential moves and techniques to be a solid beginner level swing dancer. Classes will be offered in Pottstown, Reading, West Chester, Lansdale and Allentown and are just $75 for the five-week option and $110 for the ten-week option. A ten-week Beginner/Intermediate Swing (‘50s Jitterbug) class will also be offered in all five locations. This class will build on the moves taught in the intro class, adding variations and style specific movements to the swing basics. The cost for this session is $120.
