The Healthy Kids Running Series - Phoenixville Area is set to return this Spring with races Sunday, April 23rd. From their email: It’s about time to start lacing up for the Phoenixville Area’s Healthy Kids Running Series at Charlestown Park! A warm welcome to the new families joining us this season. We are already over 100 runners with only two weeks before the first race! We’ve enjoyed a lot of support from returning families and look forward to continuing to make improvements as we grow. Fall Healthy Kids Running Series Registration Open

Phoenixville Area's Healthy Kids Running Series returns this Fall with races starting Sunday, September 18th. For those who did not participate in the Spring, the Running Series is a great way to introduce your little ones to a healthy lifestyle by participating in age appropriate runs on Sunday evenings. Iron Cross Athletics hosting Free Community Workout on April 26

On Sunday, April 26, Iron Cross Athletics will be hosting a free community workout. The class, being held from 11:15-12:00pm (check-in at 11), is open to anyone/everyone in the local community! Individuals of all fitness backgrounds and abilities are welcome, no prior CrossFit experience is needed! Kids must be at least 12 years old. Class size is limited to the first 20 people to register. Iron Cross Athletics introduces ICA Kids

Iron Cross Athletics , home of CrossFit Phoenixville, is starting a kids program aptly called ICA Kids. The five week long session begins on Sunday, January 25th and is open to kids 7-12 years old. From their blog : Finally! ICA Kids is coming in two weeks! ICA Kids sessions are taught in the same structured environment you’re used to and are led by Karen (Sarge). Each ICA Kids session is five weeks long, and classes are scheduled at 9am on Sundays. Our first session will begin on Sunday, January 25th and will be offered to kids ages 7-12. Classes will be about 45 minutes in length, and during each class, we will warm up (usually by playing a game), complete a kid’s WOD, and finish by working on a skill. The five week session costs $75, and space is limited to 10 kids, with a minimum of 4. If you have questions, contact Sarge. To sign up, talk to John or Nikki next time you’re at the gym. Burn off the Bird this Saturday

Come out this Saturday and join the Phoenixville Jaycees as they once again host their Burn off the Bird 5k . About the race: 5K Race & 1 Mile Fun Walk through Phoenixville, PA, beginning and ending at Stepping Stone Educational Center. Proceeds generated from the race will go to Phoenix Animal Rescue and Operation Homefront. Street parking available. Strollers are allowed on the course. Water available midway in 5K Run. Phoenixville's Race for the Cure 5K Walk/Run

Come out to Phoenixville Area High School on Sunday, December 1st to take part in the Phoenixville Race for the Cure 5K Walk/Run. Organized by PAHS student Hayley Riley as her senior project, the race kicks off at 8am and costs $20 which includes a t-shirt. All proceeds go to the fight to end Breast Cancer. Camphill Challenge Returns October 20th

The 7th Annual Camphill Challenge will be held on Sunday, October 20th. From their website: It is sure to be another great day of cycling on October 20 as our 7th annual Camphill Challenge bike ride rolls off! We are pleased to announce that we are adding a 100 mile route this year. Pedal through Civil War History on the Schuylkill River Trail Bike Tour Series: Cycles & Cemeteries Ride

The September 21 ride along the trail incorporates a unique mix of cycling and history, with guided tours of two historic cemeteries where Civil War notables are buried. Take a ride along the Schuylkill River Trail and through the gates of two historic cemeteries where you can visit the gravesites of Civil War notables, including Gettysburg Generals Meade and Hancock. The Schuylkill River Heritage Area is hosting the second ride in the Schuylkill River Trail Bike Tour Series on Saturday, September 21. The Cycles & Cemeteries Ride will take cyclists along the Schuylkill River Trail from Norristown to East Falls, with visits to Montgomery Cemetery in West Norriton and Laurel Hill Cemetery in East Falls. Phoenixville Jaycees Hosting 3rd Annual Burn Off The Bird 5k Saturday, Nov. 24

Thanksgiving is a time for eating, often times much more than we should. We all know how hard it can be to pass up that second piece of pumpkin pie or extra helping of stuffing. The Phoenixville Jaycees can help you take care of some of those extra calories with their third annual Burn Off the Bird 5k and 1-mile Fun Walk on Saturday, Nov. 24. starting 9 a.m. at Stepping Stone Education Center, 475 Grant Street, Phoenixville. Kimberton Lions Club 5K Covered Bridge Run/Walk to be held September 29th

On Saturday, September 29, 2012 over 150 racers, walkers and kids will participate in the Fourteenth Annual Kimberton Run . This 5K Run/Walk and 1/2 mile Kid's Run will again take place on a perfect day for running in lovely East Pikeland Township in Chester County, PA. This is a great run or walk through the beautiful countryside of East Pikeland including over an historical covered bridge. Camphill Challenge Returns Sunday, October 14th

The event begins and ends at the Kimberton Waldorf School and offers 50, 25, and 10 miles routes as well as a one mile family fun ride to Beaver Farm where children can visit the farm animals. Schuylkill River Trail Bike Tour Series will Feature Unique Combination of Cycling and History

The Schuylkill River Heritage Area is introducing a new multi-year series of bike rides that will feature a unique combination of cycling and history. All events benefit the Schuylkill River Heritage Area, and are intended to raise awareness of the Schuylkill River Trail and the region’s fascinating history. The Schuylkill River Trail Bike Tour Series will debut this fall with the Rails and River Towns Ride, which will take place on September 22 along the Pottstown to Birdsboro section of the trail. The Rails and River Towns Ride will include a presentation on the history of the Pennsylvania Railroad, upon whose right-of-way the trail is partly built. Participants can opt to take a guided walking tour of Birdsboro or a tour of Historic Morlatton Village’s four 18th Century buildings. Three ride options are available totaling 20, 18 and 9 miles.
