Green Earth Festival 2016 is Tomorrow

On Saturday, September 17, the Phoenixville Green Team will be hosting their Green Earth Festival from 9am-1pm at the Phoenixville Farmers' Market . Living Green is the theme for this educational and fun event featuring eco-conscious exhibits, vendors, community groups and earth-friendly advocates. Updates will be provided on the new development, the Phoenixville Greenway , Trails and Open Space. It's a celebration of eco-friendly products and services, sustainable energy and transportation, local environmental advocacy and non-profits - all good for you and great for the planet! The Festival expands the Phoenixville Farmers' Market, a producer/grower market committed to providing locally grown, fresh food; to preserve our agricultural and community heritage. Fall Healthy Kids Running Series Registration Open

Phoenixville Area's Healthy Kids Running Series returns this Fall with races starting Sunday, September 18th. For those who did not participate in the Spring, the Running Series is a great way to introduce your little ones to a healthy lifestyle by participating in age appropriate runs on Sunday evenings. WuFFJam 2016 is this Saturday

On Saturday, August 20th, St. Michaels Grove in Mont Clare will be home to WuFFJam , a fun, family day where people are encouraged to bring their dogs and kids to enjoy great music, great food and great activities while at the same time supporting two local animal rescues, Phoenix Animal Rescue and Tiny Miracles Rescue . In addition to the numerous activities for two and four footed guests, there will be over 60 local food, businesses and craft vendors to shop from and over 75 raffle drawings throughout the day. PennDOT to Rehabilitate Route 23 Bridge over French Creek in Chester County

The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation will start construction Friday, August 5, on a $450,000 project to rehabilitate the structurally deficient bridge carrying Route 23 (Schuylkill Road) over French Creek in Phoenixville Borough and East Pikeland and Schuylkill townships, Chester County. The project is scheduled to finish Sunday, August 14. Crews will work to rehabilitate the Route 23 (Schuylkill Road) bridge by replacing a portion of the bridge deck and deteriorated beams. During construction, Route 23 (Schuylkill Road) will be closed and detoured between Valley Forge Road and Township Line Road. The posted detour will use Township Line Road and Valley Forge Road. Southbound Township Line motorists wanting to access eastbound Route 23 (Schuylkill Road) will be detoured over Mowere Road. Local access will be maintained up to the construction zone. The Route 23 (Schuylkill Road) bridge was built in 1940. The two-span steel I-beam bridge is 125 feet long, 40 feet wide

The Chamber & Foundations Celebrate Orion

The Phoenixville Chamber of Commerce led a ribbon cutting ceremony to recognize the new office and growth of Orion Communities, a non-profit that serves the most vulnerable neighbors in the greater Phoenixville area. Participating in the ribbon cutting event were two Chester County foundations that have been instrumental in Orion’s growth. The Phoenixville Community Health Foundation provided a technology grant to update office technology as well as help with the implementation of a new web-based data management system. The Chester County Community Foundation awarded Orion a ‘capacity building’ grant for several items including marketing materials, Orion’s first Annual Report and improvements to the physical office due to the dramatic increase in clients in the preceding year. Phoenixville Food Festival Returns This Weekend

On Saturday, May 7, the Phoenixville Food Festival returns to downtown Phoenixville. From 12-6pm, over 30 food trucks will line Bridge Street serving up everything from doughnuts and cupcakes to Caribbean American Soul Food and Egyptian cuisine. Pothouse Road to Close in Schuylkill Township for Road Widening and Sewer Installation

From the PA Department of Transportation : Pothouse Road is scheduled to close between Meadowbrook Lane and Route 29 (State Road) in Schuylkill Township, Chester County, starting Friday, April 15, from 7:00 AM to 5:00 PM, for road widening and sewer installation, the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) today announced. The closure will be in effect Mondays through Saturdays from 7:00 AM to 5:00 PM through Monday, May 16. During construction, Pothouse Road through traffic will be detoured over Route 29 (State Road/Main Street), Route 23 (Nutt Road) and Bridge Street. Truck traffic will be detoured over Route 29 (State Road/Main Street), Route 23 (Nutt Road) and Route 113 (Kimberton Road). Local access will be maintained up to the construction zone. Motorists are advised to allow extra time when traveling through the area. The construction schedule is contingent on the weather. The Phoenixville Area School District will perform the work under a PennDOT Highway

Collaborative Art Show to open at Franklin Commons on January 30th

On January 30th, 2016 from 1:00-4:00 the Art Gallery at Franklin Commons will host an opening reception for its exhibition RADIUS. The show invites 9 art organizations from the region to showcase their artists and their communities. The participating organizations are: ArtFusion, ARTsisters, MCGOPA (Montgomery County Guild of Professional Artists) Phoenix Village Art Center, Pottstown Area Artist Guild, Greater Norristown Art League, Studio B Boyertown, Whitemarsh Art Center and Artists' Equity. The event is free and open to the public. Each organization will have a dedicated space in the gallery for their artists work, and each organization will present briefly on the history of their organization, their current impact on their communities, and opportunities in each organization.
