Kimberton Area Lions Club hosting KidSight next Wednesday

On Wednesday May 13, 2015, in conjunction with the Dogwood Festival , the Kimberton Area Lions Club will be hosting KidSight, a Lions' vision screening program for pre-school children. The screening will take place between the hours of 6:00 PM to 8:30 PM at the Parkside United Church of Christ on the corner of Main Street and Third Avenue in Phoenixville, across from the Dogwood Festival location (Reeves Park) and will be conducted by trained specialists. This is a free service provided by the Kimberton Area Lions Club. What is KidSight? KidSight is an initial screening program for eye problems in preschool children. If a screening reveals a potential issue, the child should be referred to an appropriate eye care professional. Children are screened for lazy eye and possible depth perception conditions.

Yumi Kendall & Friends benefit concert - 8 pm, Friday, May 8

Yumi Kendall, Assistant Principal Cellist of The Philadelphia Orchestra, will give a Benefit Concert for the Lyre Association of North America on Friday, May 8, 2015, 8 pm, at Camphill Village Kimberton Hills , located at 1601 Pughtown Road in Phoenixville, PA. Pianist Sheila P. Johns and The East Coast Lyre Ensemble will accompany Yumi on several selections, including two pieces arranged by Veronika Roemer for lyre ensemble and cello – Saint-Saens' The Swan from The Carnival of the Animals and the Rachmaninoff Vocalise. The lyrists, who are coming together from seven states to support the fundraiser, will also offer a special piece written for the modern lyre. The Lyre Association is raising funds to support the Sixth International Lyre Conference, to be held this summer in Detroit, Michigan.
