Barry Cassidy Stepping Down On September 3rd

Barry Cassidy posted on his Facebook page today that he will be ending his tenure as Main Street manager on Friday, September 3rd.
due to lack of funding i will end my tenure in the 'ville on september 3rd (first friday). i have enjoyed my time here but if they can not pay me i can not stay. no money no me. pretty plain and simple. cuts in funding to the cdc from a number of sources have made it difficult for me to pay the bills. I want to thank everyone for their well wishes.

Cassidy's comments reveal his lack of real commitment to the community– greed has no place in the new economy where everyone is taking cuts and doing more with less.

Perhaps if he had focused on vacancies and solving the parking nightmare instead of trying to be a music promoter her could have justified his existence or even made his position pay for itself– that's what good employees do.

I predict this town will finally blossom, fall 2010.

I hope the next person is one heck of a lot less egotistic than Barry.

Phoenixville will prosper with proper management with or without Barry.

I agree with the previous poster. The streetscape project has stalled. Parking is horrible. That is the main deterrent from going downtown. He needs to go. We need someone with a better vision for Phoenixville.

Over the next couple of months, three local businesses will be closing their doors. On Saturday, February 16th, Polka Dots will be closing their store at 246 Bridge Street. Barry Cassidy Addresses Downtown Rumors

Today's Phoenix ran an article written by Barry Cassidy in which he addressed the various rumors that have been circulating regarding the immediate futures of several local businesses. He paints a much rosier picture than some of the comments here would have you believe. From the article: --- On Monday someone came in and told me Molly Maguire's was closing. I knew that was not correct because they are expanding, not closing. Then about 20 minutes after than I heard from someone else that 101 was closing and the building was going to become a McDonalds.
