Historic Inns of Phoenixville Dinner & Tour Tuesday, May 12, 2009

The Phoenixville Area Business Association will be presenting a Historic Inns of Phoenixville Dinner and Tour on Tuesday, May 12, 2009 starting at 6:00 PM. The tour will start at The Pickering Creek Inn (formerly the Mansion House) where participants will board a restored historic trolley. The tour will feature a drive-by narration of the important historical buildings in downtown Phoenxville, including the supervisors building (now 101 Bridge restaurant), The Colonial Theatre, Hotel Washington, Hotel Chester, The Columbia Bar & Grille and several churces on church street. Also included is a 15-20 minute walking tour of the newly opened Phoenixville Foundry, an amazing events venue in the old foundry building.

The tour will end with a 3-course dinner (with complimentary glass of wine) at the participants choice of The Pickering Creek Inn or Columbia Bar & Grille. Tickets are $65.00 and must be purchaed in advance. For individuals purchasing 4 or more tickets there is a 5% savings. Several Local Businesses Closing Up Shop

Over the next couple of months, three local businesses will be closing their doors. On Saturday, February 16th, Polka Dots will be closing their store at 246 Bridge Street. The shop, a women's clothing boutique, opened nearly two and a half years ago but has recently found business slow. --- Originally, (owner Susan) Randels said that the store was doing well, but that the momentum could not keep up. "The things that sold in Paoli didn't sell in Phoenixville," she said, adding that some customers thought that the store was too expensive or the sizing did not go high enough (size 12 being the highest size sold). "We tried everything."
