Update on the South Main Street Cafe

Received an anonymous tip today regarding the South Main Street Cafe, first mentioned here. Says the reader:

A sign has been out in front of South Main Street Cafe for about a week now. "8-16-08 opening at 6AM, serving breakfast and lunch daily."

I've been in it. Very nice. Yes - there are a few counter stools, as well as doubles, quads and I think booth type tables if I recall.

The South Main Street Cafe will be located at 119 S Main St which used to be the home of the Moose Lodge and more recently Destiny Brewing.

Had a good and most reasonably priced breakfast. I noticed on the back of the menu that they will deliver lunch and breakfast to Phoenixville business owners. Nice touch.

They'll deliver to just the business owners? That's odd. What about the employees? The only businesses in Phoenixville it seems are restaurants anyway, so I doubt they'd want food delivered to them.

Sorry there, I didn't type correctly. They'll deliver to businesses. Hope that didn't confuse you too much... Try to get downtown once, maybe a haircut or pick a gift up for someone. The non-restaurant businesses outway the restaurants. Have a shirt dry cleaned or pick up some flowers.

"Have a shirt dry cleaned"? LOL! Salon Fiber? Where did they relocate to anyway? They had a great location and a hip building, but are now in an alley I believe. Snippity Do Dah is gone it looks like too, with the old lady Park Avenue Salon moving into it's building. Let's face it. Downtown Phoenixville is primarily restaurants and bars. Hopefully more 'businesses' will move in to make it more like West Chester. West Chester has everything - banks, non profit organizations, for profit corporations, nice stores, etc. to go along with their bar and restaurant scene. Restaurants are nice, but only go so far.

Over the next couple of months, three local businesses will be closing their doors. On Saturday, February 16th, Polka Dots will be closing their store at 246 Bridge Street. Barry Cassidy Addresses Downtown Rumors

Today's Phoenix ran an article written by Barry Cassidy in which he addressed the various rumors that have been circulating regarding the immediate futures of several local businesses. He paints a much rosier picture than some of the comments here would have you believe. From the article: --- On Monday someone came in and told me Molly Maguire's was closing.
