Philadelphia Premium Outlets Open Today


Today marks the grand opening of the Philadelphia Premium Outlets in Limerick. The ribbon cutting ceremony was to happen at 9am this morning. To celebrate, the outlets are planning a four day Grand Opening celebration featuring prizes, live entertainment, special in-store promotions and much more.

is this a good thing? Suburban sprawl like these outlets goes against the very core of why Bridge Street is so cool.

I went to these outlets on Saturday and what a NIGHTMARE. I will NEVER go back. I exoected it to be busy - BUT the parkin situation was brutal. I hear they were supposed to have 5,000 spots and had less than half that. The logistics of this place are horrifying. I am an accountant and I could have done a better job. They allow only two entrances to the parking lot and one of the two roads in is a tiny little side street. It took us an hour and 45 minutes just to get in the parking lot. We could not find a spot and had to park about a 5 minute walk away..

The prices are NOT outlet prices. The only stores that were remotely discounted were Puma, Aldo, BCBG, and Banana. This is both horrible and amusing but here goes. I went into the Under Armour "outlet." There were winter running pants with an orange price tag over the original price tag. The orange price tag said 39.99..I don't usually splurge on running gear and wanted to see how much of a bargain that was so I tried to peel the orange sticker off. The original price was 29.99...$10 cheaper!!! HAHA.. I ried peelng a few more off just to be sure but they really had them on there so that when you pulled the sticker off you pulled the original price off as well.

I will NEVER go back there. I find much better quality and discounts and parking and service at Filene's Basement in Springfield PA.

This place is not worth your hard earned money...

Kristen, I think you have to expect the "nightmare". You went on the Saturday of the grand opening. Some people plan their whole lives around thsi Outlet stuff. I went on Friday night and late Sunday afternoon and it was no problem whatsoever. I shopped at Bass, Van Heusen, Geoffery Beane. Calvin Klein, Izod. They had great discounts. 50 percent off most stuff.
For anyone living in Phoenixville,
if you go to these outlets on a weekend or close to rush hour, use the back way (23 to 724 to Linden...Look it up on Mapquest). Much better than the main entrance. Also once you pull in to the outlet center turn right and keep going to the parking lots nearest to 422 (Park near the Neiman Marcus entrance, plenty of parking). People are usually just sheep and as soon as the pull in to the center, they think there is no parking so they only look in front lots, which causes the traffic that Kristen experienced.

Went to new Outlets for first time tonight. Many of the stores are very tiny inside. The prices are NOT nearly as good as Kohls, Boscovs, Macys - on sale or not. The Brooks Bros. does not offer any alterations, so prepare to pay full price and then find your own tailor. The Outlets' roof openings are going to make for some real fun in snow and ice! But what I found the most disturbing is that the hallway walls leading into the restrooms were completely filthy - full of scuff marks, mud,and dirt. Heck, the place has been only open a week !! Clean up please.

If you want a real outlet you need to stick with Franklin Mills.
For all of the hype, I wasn't very impressed.

I didn't find very many 'outlet' prices here. Example- Liz Clairborne at FM has great sweaters and tops for $12. Here they are $29+.
Was Neiman Marcus supposed to be an OUTLET Store? LOL! I saw a few gowns on the racks for $2500+, marked down from $4500. Puleese.

I did enjoy the kitchen/cookware stores and Harry and Davids. Other than that, I'll stick to Boscovs and Kohls.

Traffic wasn't bad Saturday eve around 6pm. I can't say it was crowded. Perhaps the novelty has already worn off?

Over the next couple of months, three local businesses will be closing their doors. On Saturday, February 16th, Polka Dots will be closing their store at 246 Bridge Street. Local Business Spotlight: The Fenix

As mentioned a couple of months back , Phoenixville will soon be home to a premium martini and whiskey bar. Named The Fenix, it is owned by the owners of Molly Maguire's and will be located right next door to Molly's at 193 Bridge Stret.
