Local Business Spotlight: Epic Boot Camp

Epic Boot Camp is a four-week outdoor fitness program that offers fitness training, motivation, and nutritional counseling. Epic has been in the area since 2007 helping clients achieve better health. We have researched and applied the most efficient ways in training to help you burn fat, tone muscle, and increase cardiovascular endurance. Combined with fun activities designed to help women of ALL fitness levels reach their goals. Our campers have been known to eliminate 3-5% overall body fat, increase strength and endurance, and take inches off their body. Some in just over 4 weeks!

Women at all levels of fitness, ages, and sizes are achieving awesome results with Epic Boot Camp! Recently one of our campers has lost 65lbs with the Epic Boot Camp fitness classes. She was able to achieve this success by training hard and following the nutrition plan designed by her trainer. It has been a great success story for everyone. What sets Epic Boot Camp apart from some of the other boot camps or gyms in the area is that we offer semipersonal training at a HUGE discount. No two classes are the same and you are only paying $15 dollars per class when you sign up for the 5 day a week program. The gym would cost you $50 per hour session, that is a $35 savings! Classes are held outside until the fall/winter seasons come. Once the weather changes we go indoors to keep the exercise going. All of the trainers are certified and insured and make class fun and energetic. Epic Boot Camp also offers a free nutrition class and nutritional guidance throughout camp to help you meet your need quicker.

Epic Boot Camp was started by Jacob James Right. Jacob spent 12 months in Iraq, where he earned his combat badge and a bronze star as a platoon leader in the Army National Guard. He spent his days and nights overseeing and protecting the lives of his soldiers. While in Iraq, Jacob learned the value of life, and though he is no longer leading soldiers into battle, he is leading women everywhere to a healthy and fit lifestyle. Being fit and healthy allows Jacob and everyone he trains to enjoy a better quality of life. In 2007, Jacob decided to start his own outdoor fitness classes for women. Through the outstanding leadership skills he developed in the U.S. Army and his time in combat, his love of fitness and living a healthy lifestyle combined with the vast knowledge he acquired throughout his education, Epic Boot Camp was born. With Epic Boot Camp, Jacob has dedicated his efforts to making exercise fun, yet challenging for all shapes, sizes and abilities. Over the course of several years, he and his trainers have changed and touched many lives with his knowledge and programs — and now he and his dedicated instructors are ready to change yours.

Great workout for women, allows them to get out of the house, enjoy time with other women, build friendships. I have been a trainer for this company for about a year as well as a client for the year before. I have enjoyed it very much and have made some great connections in the meantime. Not only does this beat the gym, but it is proven to be a great workout. Stop going to the gym, let me take that back, stop paying for the gym and never going or not seeing changes in your body. Try something out of the box and join your local fitness boot camp, you wont regret it!

Several Local Businesses Closing Up Shop

Over the next couple of months, three local businesses will be closing their doors.

On Saturday, February 16th, Polka Dots will be closing their store at 246 Bridge Street. The shop, a women's clothing boutique, opened nearly two and a half years ago but has recently found business slow.

---
Originally, (owner Susan) Randels said that the store was doing well, but that the momentum could not keep up.

"The things that sold in Paoli didn't sell in Phoenixville," she said, adding that some customers thought that the store was too expensive or the sizing did not go high enough (size 12 being the highest size sold). "We tried everything."

Randels also said that parking was an issue for many of her customers who could either not find spaces or did not feel safe parking behind the store.
---

Polka Dots remains open until the 16th, with hours on Saturday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Sunday from 12 p.m. to 4 p.m. The phone number is 610-935-5914. Clothing and shoes are bei…

Public meeting to discuss future of Melchiorre Park scheduled for Nov. 29th

On Thursday, November 29th, the Borough is holding a 'brainstorming session' in which plans for Melchiorre Park will be discussed with its park planning consultants. The event will be held at the High School and will begin 7pm.

For those of you who do not know about Melchiorre Park (of which I am included, even though I apparently live across the street from it), it is a 23 acre park located south of High Street on the land between it and French Creek. It appears, based on the drawing on the Borough home page, to be the land that is next to Westridge Village and across the street from the new Northridge Village community.

As part of the meeting, the consultants will 'provide a brief background of the project and present a pre-final master plan for the park'.

Local Business Spotlight: The Fenix

As mentioned a couple of months back, Phoenixville will soon be home to a premium martini and whiskey bar. Named The Fenix, it is owned by the owners of Molly Maguire's and will be located right next door to Molly's at 193 Bridge Stret.

The Fenix hopes to have a soft opening tonight or tomorrow with a grand opening coming in September. I sent an email into General Manager Michael Matarazzo who had this to say regarding the new venture:

---
Opening in September 2008, The Fenix will offer a unique selection of over 15 specialty martinis as well as classic cocktails, fine wines and spirits. An eye-catching menu of delicious food will also be available along with great music and live DJ’s.

The Fenix will create an exciting and varied cocktail party atmosphere every Thursday, Friday and Saturday from 4pm. Our guests will enjoy the comfortable lounge for food or a casual after work drink. Later on, they can listen or dance to the best music and DJ’s around or just gather at the sty…
