Special Performance of Nunsense to benefit Phoenixville Area Time Bank

Reader Margo Ketchum wrote in to tell about an upcoming event to help raise money for the Phoenixville Area Time Bank.

---
Mark your calendar for Sunday afternoon, November 9th, 2pm, for some pure fun. The Forge Theatre, at 241 First Avenue in Phoenixville, has offered Phoenixville Area Time Bank a special showing of the popular musical comedy Nunsense to benefit the organization.

Now in its 25th year, Nunsense has gained a big following across the country and around the world, with a fan club, sequels, and a special website. The story features five rather diverse and somewhat wacky nuns who take over a high school stage set, to raise money for the burial of their poor sisters who the cook accidentally poisoned. They sing, they dance, and they get you, the audience, involved!

Tickets are $20, available by reservation (610-608-9261 / timedollar@verizon.net), or picked up at New Century Bank in Kimberton.

The non-profit Phoenixville Area Time Bank offers local individuals a chance to help each other out, one-on-one or with group projects. They help rebuild neighborhood networks and strengthen the community. The Time Bank was recently featured on the front page of The Phoenix as an alternative economy (Oct. 4th 2008 edition). Several Local Businesses Closing Up Shop

Over the next couple of months, three local businesses will be closing their doors. On Saturday, February 16th, Polka Dots will be closing their store at 246 Bridge Street. The shop, a women's clothing boutique, opened nearly two and a half years ago but has recently found business slow. --- Originally, (owner Susan) Randels said that the store was doing well, but that the momentum could not keep up. "The things that sold in Paoli didn't sell in Phoenixville," she said, adding that some customers thought that the store was too expensive or the sizing did not go high enough (size 12 being the highest size sold). "We tried everything." Randels also said that parking was an issue for many of her customers who could either not find spaces or did not feel safe parking behind the store. --- Polka Dots remains open until the 16th, with hours on Saturday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Sunday from 12 p.m. to 4 p.m. The phone number is 610-935-5914.
