Farmers Market to continue through the winter

For the first time in its history, the Phoenixville Farmers Market will continue to operate through the winter, albeit on a limited basis. The market will be open twice a month from 10-11am and most of the vendors will be bringing primarily pre-ordered items. It will be located in the same spot as it always is, behind the Family Dollar at the intersection of Bridge St. and Taylor Alley.

Dates for the market are as follows:
December 8th and 22nd
January 12th and 26th
February 9th and 23rd
March 15th and 29th
April 12th and 26th

For more information, please see the Farmer's Market website.

Speaking of Family Dollar, does anyone know how we could get Family Dollar to clean up their store facing? Also, what about the Wine & Spirits Shop? It, too, needs a facelife.

A typo in my previous post: facelift.

I wonder how much longer that particular Family Dollar will be around. It just doesn't seem to fit with the new landscape that P-ville is heading towards. I could see the price to lease increasing too much and them moving out. It's never really busy.

There are a lot of places along Bridge Street that need a facelift.

WHAT IS GOING ON IN THE HEIDI SUE? I WENT TO THAT PLACE AS A CHILD AND WOULD BUY CANDY AND TOYS. I RECENTLY WENT AS AN ADULT AND THE SAME TOYS ARE THERE FROM THE 70'S AND 80'S. IT EVEN SMELLS THE SAME. I CANNOT IMAGINE THEY DO A GREAT BUSINESS. HAS ANYONE OFFERED TO BUY THE PLACE?

Why isn't anyone doing anything to encouraging cleaning up these storefronts? As much as I think Phoenixville has potential and am glad to support local business (and I built a new, expensive house here), I am mortified that momentum for all of these projects has come to a screeching halt. That said, I do recognize La Creperie just opened (kudos to them) and other things are happening, but as a whole, there are still some major exposed bruises (like Family Dollar and the block near Subway) that just need to GO AWAY. Even that "Santa shack" at the corner of Main and Bridge, though great for children, was an eyesore. THINK MODERN AND CONTEMPORARY, FOLKS!

To the Heidi Sue Lover Well............ What can I say, you can go to Heidi Sue. You must really like it. The owner must be thrilled when you come to do your Holiday shopping. By the looks of your spelling I am surprised you can spell Heidi Sue! But then again you could have just copied it from me. LOL.

I, too, agree that Family Dollar should get out of town.

How can we get Phoenixville moving faster? What does it take? I am so sick of hearing about CDC and the mayor and blah, blah, blah. Get off your rumps and do something, please, people ... quit this immature and stupid infighting.

After I travel around the country and see amazing cities full of vibrant young professional folks (Scottsdale, L.A., Denver, Lexington, Louisville, Chicago and the burbs of those cities), I chuckle hard when I think of how fast those cities accomplished things compared to a city that can't even spruce up Bridge Street in YEARS. Get with it, Phoenixville. The Heidi Sues and Family Dollars need to CLEAN UP or get out. Look at the new amazing places like Hipster Home, La Creperie, Wolfgang, Earth Mart ... those are role models.

Black Lab is doing so well. I think people who want to open restaraunts in Phoenixville should learn from it. Black Lab has a simple and successful formula - nice food, excellent ambience and reasonable price.

I agree completely with most of the people who commented here: MANY stores on Bridge street need a facelift. Being historic does not mean being old and shabby. Historic can be glamorous or quaint.

My only complaint about Black Lab is that prices have gone up a bit. That said, I go there quite often because the service is typically great, the food is amazing, and 100% of the probably 100 times I go, I leave saying, "That was excellent." They, too, are great role models.

I agree, the Santa Shack looks terrible, Bridge and Main is a very prominent corner in downtown P-ville, can we please try to keep things on that corner looking somewhat classy? It is embarassing to have that thing there, it's the Yule Time equivalent of an old car resting on cinderblocks. Bah humbug.

Local Non-Profit Spotlight: You Are Worth It Foundation

The You Are Worth It Foundation is a grassroots homeless and in-need outreach group from Phoenixville, PA. Around Phoenixville recently asked Chris Brickhouse for some more information about the Foundation and how you can help: Tell us a little about You Are Worth It and how it got started: We are a homeless outreach organizations serving Phoenixville, Pottstown, Norristown, Center City and Kensington in Philly and constantly expanding. We were formed in early 2018 by Dina Rowan and I came on board last June. We have roughly 15 volunteers so far and would like to expand that to expand our reach. We take donated items directly to the people. We provide them with a hot meal and new or lightly used clothing and self-care products. We have long term goals of a mobile shower center, vocational training and assisting with housing in any way possible. What kind of items do you need? We take a wide array of items - individually packaged food, canned goods, ramen, protein bars, water, s
