The Pub at Wegmans to Celebrate Oktoberfest with Live Music, Craft Beer and German-inspired Dishes

From Thursday, October 11 through Sunday, October 14, the three regional locations of The Pub at Wegmans will host festive Oktoberfest celebrations. Guests can enjoy affordable Oktoberfest beers, German-inspired dishes and live music at Wegmans’ Malvern, PA (50 Foundry Way, 484-913-9660), King of Prussia, PA (1 Village Drive, 484-690-3560) and Collegeville, PA (600 Commerce Drive, 484-902-1560) store locations.

“Our Oktoberfest celebration is a lively way to experience The Pub for the first time or a great reason to come back for another friendly meal with us,” says Kathy Haines, director of Wegmans in-store restaurants and Market Cafes.

The Oktoberfest Menu will include: Becks Beer & Cheese Dip; Bratwurst Sandwich, served with sauerkraut and potato salad; Wiener Schnitzel, served with braised cabbage and potato salad; and Pumpkin Cheesecake. Dishes will range in price from $3 to $9. Oktoberfest drink specials will include: Victory Festbier, a seductively smooth medium-bodied amber ale; Becks Oktoberfest, a classic German pilsner with a sweet, full-bodied taste, caramel color and a rich, full head; Erdinger Oktoberfest, a wheat beer with banana and clove notes; and Long Trail Pumpkin Ale, a slightly sweet seasonal treat artfully brewed with pumpkins, cinnamon, ginger, nutmeg and cloves. Beers are $4 to $4.50.

The Pub will also host live music from The O’Such German Band. Performances will be held on Thursday, October 11 at Malvern from 5 p.m. until 8 p.m.; Friday, October 12 at King of Prussia from 5 p.m. until 8 p.m.; and Saturday, October 13 at Collegeville from 4 p.m. until 7 p.m.

Led by their executive chefs and inspired by the incomparably fresh ingredients sold on-site in the store, The Pub at Wegmans serves an inspired array of dishes that go beyond typical pub standards. The restaurants offer cocktails, wine available by the bottle or glass and an extensive selection of craft beers, including Pub Pale Ale, made by local favorite Sly Fox Brewery and only available at The Pub at Wegmans.
The Pub at Wegmans is located at the in-store Market Cafe and features a welcoming atmosphere with glowing mahogany and rich colors inspired by traditional English pubs, where guests are encouraged to relax with family or friends over a pint or a bite. The casual ambience includes a large, wrap-around bar and a comfortable dining room. For outdoor dining, there is also a sweeping patio with plentiful seating. The Pub at Wegmans is even spacious enough to be perfect for parties, business functions and other private events.

Public meeting to discuss future of Melchiorre Park scheduled for Nov. 29th

On Thursday, November 29th, the Borough is holding a 'brainstorming session' in which plans for Melchiorre Park will be discussed with its park planning consultants. The event will be held at the High School and will begin 7pm. For those of you who do not know about Melchiorre Park (of which I am included, even though I apparently live across the street from it), it is a 23 acre park located south of High Street on the land between it and French Creek. It appears, based on the drawing on the Borough home page , to be the land that is next to Westridge Village and across the street from the new Northridge Village community. As part of the meeting, the consultants will 'provide a brief background of the project and present a pre-final master plan for the park'. Source: Phoenixville Borough Website

Local Baker Wins on Netflix Sugar Rush

Peri Anderson, owner of Brooklyn Girl Bakery , was part of a team that won the most recent episode of Sugar Rush on Netflix. I reached out to Peri to learn a little more about her bakery: I started out taking a recreational cake decorating class with my mom when I was still living in NY. I loved it and moved to PA to be with my boyfriend (now husband), where I began interning for a bakery in Chestnut Hill. Over the course of 7 years I worked my way up from intern to pastry chef until I decided to leave in 2012. I do all of my baking in our home kitchen which is licensed and insured by the Dept. of Agriculture. Initially, I wanted to focus on wedding cakes so I immediately started contacting wedding venues in the area to see if they would include me a wedding cake vendor in their packages. I currently work with over 10 venues and several caterers in the area. While wedding cakes are my main focus, I also make cakes and cookie favors for all occasions. While I don’t have a retail loca
