A review of 'Around Phoenixville' and a chance to meet the author

A couple of months ago, I mentioned the publishing of a new Postcard Book, Around Phoenixville.  The publisher, Arcadia Publishing, was kind enough to send me a copy for my review and I am very glad they did.  As a relative new comer to Phoenixville, my wife and I moved here a little over four years ago, I found the pictures to be a great way to see into the past of our town.  What I enjoyed most about the book was that it did not just focus on the history of the Phoenix Iron Company but rather gave a glimpse of the entire area, including photos from nearby Charlestown and Mont Clare.  Its pretty amazing how similar our town is today, something that played a large part in my families decision to move here and something that I think a lot of fellow residents take a lot of pride in.  I'd highly recommend Around Phoenixville to anyone who has even a passing interest in the history of our town.

For those of you who are interested, Wolfgang Books is hosting a book signing with the author of Around Phoenixville, Vincent Martino, Jr. on Saturday, December 12th, beginning at 3pm.  Mr Martino will be on hand to discuss and sign copies of his book.

Around Phoenixville, $21.99, Arcadia Publishing. Available at local retailers, online bookstores (link to Amazon on the right) or through Arcardia Publishing at www.arcadiapublishing.com or 888-313-2665.

Their site only says that he'll be on hand to discuss and sign copies of the book. I presume they will be selling them but don't hold me to that.

We take donated items directly to the people. We provide them with a hot meal and new or lightly used clothing and self-care products. We have long term goals of a mobile shower center, vocational training and assisting with housing in any way possible. What kind of items do you need? We take a wide array of items - individually packaged food, canned goods, ramen, protein bars, water, s
