A couple of months ago, I mentioned the publishing of a new Postcard Book, Around Phoenixville. The publisher, Arcadia Publishing, was kind enough to send me a copy for my review and I am very glad they did. As a relative new comer to Phoenixville, my wife and I moved here a little over four years ago, I found the pictures to be a great way to see into the past of our town. What I enjoyed most about the book was that it did not just focus on the history of the Phoenix Iron Company but rather gave a glimpse of the entire area, including photos from nearby Charlestown and Mont Clare. Its pretty amazing how similar our town is today, something that played a large part in my families decision to move here and something that I think a lot of fellow residents take a lot of pride in. I'd highly recommend Around Phoenixville to anyone who has even a passing interest in the history of our town.For those of you who are interested, Wolfgang Books is hosting a book signing with the author of Around Phoenixville, Vincent Martino, Jr. on Saturday, December 12th, beginning at 3pm.
