2009 July 4th Weekend Schedule

This year's July 4th celebrations will start a day early to coincide with First Friday and the Summer Street Music Festival. The music festival will kick off at 6pm tomorrow night with headliner The Left Edge taking the main stage at 7:30. At around 8pm, the 100 block of Bridge Street will close so that people can position themselves for the fireworks display which is set to start at approximately 9pm 9:45pm (see below).

On Saturday, the music festival, as usual, kicks off at 2pm. At the same time, the first annual Phoenixville Idiotarod will begin.

Rain date for the fireworks in Sunday, July 5th. For the first time in three years, it does not appear rain will be an issue but, as its also First Friday, one never knows.

7/3/09 Update Barry Cassidy just posted the following on Facebook
Fireworks tonight at 9 45 downtown phonexville...music starts at 6...main stage at 7:30 have a really good cover band playing tonight...the left edge...closing down the 100 block of bridge at 8 people can get their chairs set after the street closes. fireworks happen on steel property best place to see is Iron Hill bar window, 3rd floor at Molly's and the back of the Pickering Creek Inn (patio area)

Where exactly will they be setting the fireworks off from?

Not 100% sure but I believe last year they were set off from the steel site behind the buildings on the 100 block. I'd imagine they'll do the same this year.

the fireworks will be on the steel site...back by the bluffs. watch them from the 100 block or in front of the foundry

The fireworks were amazing and the town was the busiest I've ever seen it since I've been here. Hats off to everyone involved in putting this off and putting it in the town where it belongs so EVERYONE can enjoy the fireworks.

Fireworks were great to see up on Fillmore between Reservoir Park and Friendship Field...near perfect line of sight.

great shows, but i really think it should've been on July 4th because a lot of people who come to see them missed them because they were unaware of this change. great show, but this really dissapointed me that i couldnt go see the fireworks this year.

The fireworks were a big disappointment this year. What's the deal with the Friendship Field location? It was perfect up there.

The community/family event feeling was gone holding them a day early and where no one could see them unless you were in downtown.

Put them back on Friendship Field with the concert, Kiwanis, Petrucci's, etc. We didn't like them downtown at all!

This was the first time my husband and I were able to see the Phoenixville fireworks and we were impressed! It was definitely worth the walk into town, even though I am almost 9 months pregnant. Great job Phoenixville!

Great fireworks this year. The should be held downtown every year, with the streets shut down for people to watch. You still have a great view from Friendship Field.

I'm loving the fireworks downtown. It was accessible for most people and it was visitor friendly and family friendly. Phoenixville had its best foot forward and most people were impressed. You'd be hard pressed to find a visitor into our town that didn't enjoy the fireworks.

101 Bridge to Open Tomorrow

Received a phone call from my sister (who happens to be moving into Phoenixville on Saturday) who said there is a sign in front of the new 101 Bridge Restaurant saying that it will be opening tomorrow(6/25). It appears they are having a private opening tonight. If anyone here attended tonight or plans to attend over the next couple of days, please write in with your thoughts on Phoenixville's newest restaurant.
