Coming Soon: Marly's Restaurant

Reader Samantha wrote in to tell me about a new restaurant she and two partners are opening in May. The restaurant, Marly's, will be located at 108 Bridge St. and is described as "...a BYO with an upscale eclectic American Continental menu by owner/Chef Michael Favacchia."

Stay tuned for more information including an official opening date. Best of luck to Samantha and co.!

where is 108 Bridge St? Is that in the old Panini's restaurant site?

No, I am pretty sure its the building next to the old mechanics shop. The one with the new wood/window facade.

Panini's didn't make it in this town? Wow. That's too bad. I never was there, but always wanted to try it.

We ate at Panini's once on a First Friday. The food was pretty good and it was nice that it was BYOB. The place was packed due to the First Friday and our server was so flighty, but we still had a great time.

To the person who posted anonymously .."Panini's didn't make it? Wow, too bad...never there but I wanted to try it". - That's exactly the point (you were never there) so that's one of the reasons why it's out of business. Please people, support your local stores as they are here to make all of our living experiences here in Phoenixville better.

Isn't there a "Bistro 156" or something like that in it's place though?

Bistro 156 replaced Panini's but it didn't last long at all.

I went there last night with five friends. We all had appetizers and dinner, and split a few desserts. Everything was so good! All of us plan to return.

Barry Cassidy Addresses Downtown Rumors

Today's Phoenix ran an article written by Barry Cassidy in which he addressed the various rumors that have been circulating regarding the immediate futures of several local businesses. He paints a much rosier picture than some of the comments here would have you believe. From the article: --- On Monday someone came in and told me Molly Maguire's was closing. I knew that was not correct because they are expanding, not closing. Then about 20 minutes after than I heard from someone else that 101 was closing and the building was going to become a McDonalds. I knew that was not correct either. Marietu' Fanny from the crepe joint at Bridge and Gay called me and was upset that she heard someone at the business association meeting say she was closing... She went on to tell me that they were doing well... Then I heard probably the most outrageous rumor of all... Ellie's Choice is closing. Now think about this one, folks. Here, Ellie has been here for a long time, she was here ...
