Kite Mural Fundraising Party planned for Oct. 20th

Got an email from the Colonial Theatre mailing list this morning about an upcoming fund raiser for a new mural that is being created downtown. From the email

The Phoenix Village Art Center is hosting a fundraiser to help pay for a new mural in Phoenixville. The mural, designed by artist Charles Segal, is being created for the west wall of 138 Bridge Street between Iron Hill Brewery and the Columbia Bar & Grille. Please join us at the Art Center, 207 Bridge Street, on Saturday, October 20 from 4-7PM for cocktails & hors d'oeuvres, as well as a slide presentation on kite flying & its history by David Ciotti, American Kite-fliers Association member.

Tickets are $35 each or $60 per couple.

Please RSVP by October 17 via email, phone or mail. Checks can be made payable to Phoenixville Main Street CDC - Kite Mural.

It will great have another mural in downtown Phxville. Does anyone know what is going on with the mural at the corner of Bridge and Main? I noticed that they patched the part that fell and pushed the fence back to re-open the sidewalk.

Barry Cassidy Addresses Downtown Rumors

Today's Phoenix ran an article written by Barry Cassidy in which he addressed the various rumors that have been circulating regarding the immediate futures of several local businesses. He paints a much rosier picture than some of the comments here would have you believe. From the article: --- On Monday someone came in and told me Molly Maguire's was closing. I knew that was not correct because they are expanding, not closing. Then about 20 minutes after than I heard from someone else that 101 was closing and the building was going to become a McDonalds.
