Fireworks

As I am sure most of you are now aware, the fireworks display scheduled for last night did indeed happen. And, like most of you, I am shocked that the decision to have them was made considering the fact it was pouring with rain most of the evening. I have no idea how many people were actually in attendance when the first firework was set off but I have to imagine it was far less than would have been in attendance had they postponed it until Saturday. There is no mention as to who made the decision or when it was made on the borough site so we are only left to speculate. My condolences to those who wished to attend but, like me and my family, did not because of the weather.

We are disappointed that the fireworks were held last night...we did not attend due to weather and thought they would be rescheduled and sorry to hear we missed them!

The Phoenix said the decision was up to two councilors, one of whom was on vacation!

The paper also said the rest of the gang wanted to cancel but hadn't checked the fine print of the agreement. Once the fireworks were in the ground they couldn't reschedule.

But that tornado warning and the thunderstorm weren't exactly last-minute additions to the program...

Roll on Kimberton fireworks in three weeks.

It is an extreme disappointment to me and my family seeing that last year Kimberton Fire company announced it was the last year they would be holding the fireworks so we wont be seeing those this year. However Lionville Park has scheduled theirs for this Saturday and they have a large community day event as well.

Kimberton fireworks? I also was very disappointed about the Phx fireworks; you think a tornado watch would be plenty good reason to postpone! What a debacle! I also had heard that there would be no more Kimberton fireworks, due to the new school construction but that hasn't started yet. Does anyone have more info.?

I was disappointed as well. My kids were very excited they were going to able to see fireworks this year. I told them that the fire works would be canceled since it was raining so much. Then that night, I heard the fireworks firing off. I was stunned that they continued with the show, and felt bad for the kids.

Several Local Businesses Closing Up Shop

Over the next couple of months, three local businesses will be closing their doors. On Saturday, February 16th, Polka Dots will be closing their store at 246 Bridge Street. The shop, a women's clothing boutique, opened nearly two and a half years ago but has recently found business slow. --- Originally, (owner Susan) Randels said that the store was doing well, but that the momentum could not keep up. "The things that sold in Paoli didn't sell in Phoenixville," she said, adding that some customers thought that the store was too expensive or the sizing did not go high enough (size 12 being the highest size sold).
