College Planning Workshop at Phoenixville Public Library

If you or someone you know has a student who will attend college in the next few years, or even next year, you are invited to attend a free one-hour “College Planning Workshop” at Phoenixville Public Library on Thursday, September 1 at 7:00 PM. David Kay of Advanced College Planning Solutions will be the speaker. Attendees will learn: specific keys to potentially save tens of thousands of dollars on a 4-year college education; how to accurately compare schools, public vs. private; and how to structure your finances to minimize out-of-pocket costs and maximize financial aid. Specific college saving strategies will be reviewed for parents of high schoolers in any grade level.

The Fall Speakers & Events Series is sponsored in part by the Friends of the Phoenixville Public Library. This event is free and open to the public. Reservations are required. The You Are Worth It Foundation is a grassroots homeless and in-need outreach group from Phoenixville, PA. Around Phoenixville recently asked Chris Brickhouse for some more information about the Foundation and how you can help: Tell us a little about You Are Worth It and how it got started: We are a homeless outreach organizations serving Phoenixville, Pottstown, Norristown, Center City and Kensington in Philly and constantly expanding. We were formed in early 2018 by Dina Rowan and I came on board last June. We have roughly 15 volunteers so far and would like to expand that to expand our reach. We take donated items directly to the people. We provide them with a hot meal and new or lightly used clothing and self-care products. Barry Cassidy Addresses Downtown Rumors

Today's Phoenix ran an article written by Barry Cassidy in which he addressed the various rumors that have been circulating regarding the immediate futures of several local businesses. He paints a much rosier picture than some of the comments here would have you believe. From the article: --- On Monday someone came in and told me Molly Maguire's was closing.
