"Trey Day" Benefit for Trey Love Being Held October 6th at Giovanni's Pizzeria in Royersford

On Tuesday, October 6th, Giovanni's Pizzeria in Royersford will be donating 10% of their sales to the Trey Love Foundation. From the Facebook page for the event:

Come and enjoy a meal out @ Giovanni's in ROYERSFORD! Eat in or take out, Giovanni's will donate 10% of the days profits to the Trey Love Foundation. The more we eat, the more they donate!

Trey Love will be turning 3 yrs. old next month. For most parents, this means they will be leaving behind the terrible twos, and moving on to the next level of parenting. For the Love's, this is numerical evidence that their son is a warrior, a soldier taking on a microscopic monster.

In July of 2006, Trey was diagnosed with Stage IV Neuroblastoma; a rare form of cancer that affects nearly 650 children a year.

Since his diagnosis, Trey has survived several rounds of chemo, 2 stem cell transplants and weeks of an experimental immunology study. As little as 2 weeks ago, Trey was hospitalized in ICU w/ a near fatal blood infection. And.....once again.....Trey has proven to medicine and science that miracles DO exsist. He is living proof.

Giovanni's Pizzeria is located at 466 Main St. in Royersford. For more information, please contact Kim Williams-Grosser at 610.620.5410 or Karin Williams at 610.476.0997.

Being fit and healthy allows Jacob and everyone he trains to enjoy a better quality of life. In 2007, Jacob decided to start his own outdoor fitness classes for women. Through the outstanding leadership skills he developed in the U.S. Army and his time in combat, his love of fitness and living a healthy lifestyle combined with the vast knowledge he acquired throughout his education, Epic Boot Camp was born. With Epic Boot Camp, Jacob has dedicated his efforts to making exercise fun, yet challenging for all shapes, sizes and abilities. The Rivers Rockabilly Trio signs on with new management

PHOENIXVILLE, PA– Local performance group, The Rivers Rockabilly Trio, has been invited to perform on Philadelphia’s WCAU NBC 10! Show on Thursday, September 17 at 11:00 AM. Formed in 2005, the trio is known for their authentic performance of rockabilly hits from the 1950s era. The NBC 10! Show appearance will highlight Buddy Holly tunes as a celebration of the September birthday of Buddy Holly.

The television appearance will feature the announcement that The Rivers Rockabilly Trio will be appearing two days later at Delaware County’s River Front Ramble, an event which draws nearly 30,000 people for food, music and fun along the Delaware River. The Rivers Rockabilly Trio will appear at the Marcus Hook Market Square Memorial Park from 4:30pm to 6:00pm.

The Rivers Rockabilly Trio’s success in 1950s-era shows has led them to add several other shows to their repertoire, including Oh Boy! Buddy Holly and the 1950s, a multi-media tribute show featuring the music of Buddy Holly. Buddy Holly look-a-like, Ed Marra joins the trio in a recreation of the sights and sounds of the era. Oh Boy! has been booked at the Colonial Theater in Phoenixville, Pennsylvania on October 9.

The Rivers Rockabilly Trio recently signed with Phoenixville music management company, Iron Town Productions. “We have focused on booking venues and specialty events the last year,” says owner Jane Tucker. “However, when the opportunity to manage The Rivers presented itself, we jumped in on it.”

According to Tucker, the group’s flexibility and multiple incarnations were the deciding factor. The Rivers Rockabilly Trio has put together three different shows that work well with theaters, schools, festivals and special events. In addition to the Buddy Holly show, they have created Rockabilly Days, which features the first rock’n’roll hits of the 1950s and a children’s show called Silly Rockabilly.

The signing of the group by Iron Town Productions is not the first collaboration between The Rivers Rockabilly and Jane Tucker. The trio’s guitarist, Stu Frederick and Jane Tucker invented the Blob Ball together. The Blob Ball is a kick-off party for Phoenixville’s annual Blob Fest weekend. BlobFest celebrates the 1957 cult and sci-fi classic, The Blob which was filmed in Phoenixville and features Steve McQueen in his first starring role. The Blob Ball includes The Rivers Rockabilly Trio performing 1950s classics, swing dancing, costume contests and 1950s themed food.

The Rivers Rockabilly Trio includes Stu Frederick, on guitar, J. B. Smith on percussion and Bradley Keough on bass. All three sing in the trio and have extensive backgrounds in the Philadelphia area music scene. For more information on The Rivers Rockabilly Trio visit the band’s website at www.theriversonline.com. Chester County Health Department's Tobacco Control Program Offering Free Services to Local Businesses

The Chester County Health Department's Tobacco Control Program is offering free services to local businesses.

  1. Host a Tobacco-Free Living (TFL) workshop at your organization. In this free, 1-hour workshop, employees will discuss the advantages and challenges of becoming tobacco-free, explore the resources available to help them become tobacco-free, and develop personalized plans for preparing to quit. Employees don't have to be ready to quit, only willing to think about quitting. With implementation of the new smoking ban, all employers should help their employees become tobacco-free! After a TFL workshop, we can get you in touch with providers that conduct free, ongoing cessation programs, if you are interested. Click here for more information on this workshop.
  2. Does your business have an established tobacco policy in place? We can also provide free technical assistance to help you develop a tobacco policy or enhance an existing tobacco policy to ensure that you are complying with Pennsylvania's Clean Indoor Air Act (CIAA). The CIAA was implemented on September 11, 2008 and prohibits smoking in most public places and workplaces across the Commonwealth. Click here for more information.

For more information, contact Tamara Schauf at 610-344-5286 or tschauf@chesco.org.
