Upcoming Events

Last Thursday I stopped in to say hello to Barry Cassidy. While there, I picked up a flyer highlighting events that are coming up in the next several months. Some of the highlights that have been mentioned previously include the Celtic Street Fair on May 10th, the Summer Music Series and BlobFest . In addition to these, June's First Friday will kick off Dollar Days, a two day sale by downtown merchants. The sale runs from 10am-8pm on Friday, June 6th and then again from 10am-5pm on Saturday, June 7th. Two weeks later, to celebrate the start of Summer, a Festival of Summer Solstice will be held downtown. Finally, on August 29th there will be a Marine Night. In addition to all of these events, the summer months will feature the opening of several new restaurants in town as well as some new retail stores. Stay tuned for more information.

Parking info for Sly Fox Bock Fest & Goat Race

Happened across the Sly Fox website today and decided to take a look at the News/Events section to see if they had any more information on their upcoming Bock Fest and Goat Race . Those of you who plan to attend (and I'd recommend it to anyone who is a fan of Sly Fox, german food and/or a generally good time) should make note of the following: -- OFF-SITE PARKING ARRANGED FOR 2008 BOCK FEST & GOAT RACE In an effort to ease crowded conditions and traffic issues on Rt. 113 in front of Pikeland Village Square, and also to be fair to merchants in the Maple Lawn Shopping Center on the other side of that road, Sly Fox Brewing has arranged for off-site parking for all attendees at the 2008 Bock Festival and Goat Race on Sunday, May 4. There will be short-term parking allowed at Pikeland Village Square for customers of other businesses which are open, but anyone coming to Sly Fox will be directed to the Fairgrounds. Former President Clinton to Speak at PAHS Today

Former President Bill Clinton will be giving a speech at the Phoenixville Area High School this afternoon. Depending on where you go for your information, the speech is set to begin at either 12:45 or 1:15. According to blogger Karen Johns, who indicates a 12:45 start time, tickets are not available and seating will be first come, first served . The Phoenix, which indicates a 1:15 start time, does not mention anything about admittance . My advice, for those who wish to attend, would be to go over no later than 12.
