PABA Hosting Holiday Scavenger Hunt This Weekend

The Phoenixville Area Business Association is sponsoring a downtown Phoenxville Holiday Scavenger Hunt from Friday, Deccember 3rd at 5 PM- Saturday, December 4th at 5 PM. Participants can pick up a Scavenger Hunt postcard at any of the following businesses starting Friday,December 3rd at 5:00 PM. The postcard will have 10 photos of items in the 10 participating retail or service locations. Go to each location, correctly match the photo with the location. Meanwhile, particpants in the hunt will get a 15% discount onselect merchandise in the business by showing you postcard. Shop Downtown This Saturday!

Not that you should need a reason to patronize shops in town, but, if you do, this Saturday is a great reason to. American Express has started something they call Small Business Saturday in an effort to promote the small businesses that make towns like ours so great. As an incentive to get out and shop, American Express card holders will receive a $25 statement credit when you spend $25 or more at a participating small businesses. The Phoenixville Area Business Association is getting in on the act as well by providing free parking all day in ALL lots. Streets will still have the 2 hour limit enforced.

4th Annual Kiwanis Christmas Parade to be held Friday, December 3rd

The Phoenixville Kiwanis Club is proud to announce their 4th annual Christmas Parade is set for First Friday, December 3, 2010 at 7pm. The parade will line up on the 100 block of Church Street and traverse the 100, 200 300 block of Bridge St. ending at the Dollar Store. The parade, heralding the arrival of Santa and the holiday season, will feature the Phoenixville Phantom Marching Band and area fire companies competing in a competition of their vehicles decorated for the season. Santa is bringing some of his most favorite friends. Santa’s guests include the Mouses (Mick & Minnie) and of course Donald Duck and Goofy. Also making their way down the parade route will be Elmo, Barney, The Cat in the Hat, Winnie the Pooh, Cinderella, Snow White and other favorites. On Saturday, December 4th, the Phoenixville Jaycees will be hosting their 10th Annual Candlelight Holiday Tour. The tour features beautifully decorated homes, houses of worship, adaptive re-use, music and refreshments. 2nd Anual Burn off the Bird 5k Scheduled for November 27th

On Saturday, November 27th, the Phoenixville Jaycees will once again be hosting the 'Burn off the Bird 5k Run and 1 mile fun walk'. The run starts at 9am (registration and vendor fair at 8am) and will begin at Franklin Commons, 400 Franklin Avenue. Proceeds from the race will help support the Phoenixville Parks and Recreation Department . Phoenixville Hospital Offering Two Tobacco Free Support Group Meetings

Phoenixville Public Library Presents 'The Lincoln Highway in Pennsylvania' Talk

A free talk, “The Lincoln Highway in Pennsylvania”, will be presented at Phoenixville Public Library on Thursday, November 18 at 7:00 PM. Melinda Higgins Crawford, Commonwealth Speaker for the Pennsylvania Humanities Council and Executive Director of Preservation Pennsylvania , will be the speaker. Opening in 1913, the Lincoln Highway was America’s first coast to coast highway, connecting Times Square to San Francisco. The Lincoln Highway was a marketing concept cooked up by automobile manufacturers who wanted to sell more cars and car parts. Some of the road’s most famous landmarks were located in Pennsylvania. The Lincoln Highway still is in use today and roughly follows Route 30 in Pennsylvania from east to west. Melinda Crawford’s interactive presentation includes old postcards and photographs and contemporary photography showing original alignments of the road, roadside markers, and attractions.

The next Movie Night at Phoenixville Public Library , Thursday, November 11 at 7:00 PM, will feature “ Pulp Fiction ” (1994, rated R, running time 154 min.), next in our countdown of the American Film Institute’s “100 Greatest Movies”. John Travolta and Samuel L. Jackson lead an offbeat cast in Quentin Tarantino’s stylish crime trilogy depicting a day in the life of a criminal community. Inspired by Black Mask magazine, the film is a clever, almost gleeful look at everyday life on the fringes of mainstream society. This event is free and open to the public. Open Gaming Night at Phoenixville Public Library

Adults 18 and over are invited to unwind and make new friends at Phoenixville Public Library’s “Open Gaming Night for Adults”, held on the second Tuesday of each month from 6:00 to 8:00 PM. On Saturday, November 6th and Sunday, November 7th, All Things Primitive (25 S. Main St) will be hosting their 2nd Annual Christmas Open House: All Things Primitive, at 25 S Main St, is having their 2nd Annual Christmas Open House on Saturday, Nov 6th and Sunday, Nov 7th. There will be refreshments and a drawing for some great prizes. We have many gifts for under $20 and also under $10. Gift certificates are available. Also, for the New Year, we have contracted with a builder to build special furniture pieces for us to sell. HSPA Presents "Tunes Through Time: Phoenixville's Musical Scrapbook"

The Historical Society of the Phoenixville Area will be opening it's new exhibit, "Tunes Through Time: Phoenixville's Musical Scrapbook" on November 5 in conjunction with First Friday. Phoenixville Hospital Offering Freedom From Smoking Program

Want to quit smoking? Phoenixville Hospital can help. Beginning November 4th, the hospital will be offering the American Lung Association’s Freedom From Smoking® program . The program, which consists of eight weekly sessions, is free to the public and includes free nicotine replacement therapy. Two options are offered: Thursday nights at the Phoenixville Hospital Cafeteria from 7-8:30pm and Wednesday afternoons at the Phoenixville Hospital Annex from 4-5:30pm.
