Open Bar For Autism

On Friday, April 2, the Lovaas Institute will be holding a fundraiser at Kildare's in King of Prussia : This Friday, at Kildare's King of Prussia, we are holding an open bar to support our donation to the Philadelphia Autism Walk in September. The event begins at 7pm and the open bar is over at 9pm but the party will continue after! The open bar includes domestic beers and wine/well drinks as well as 1/2 priced appetizers. Who wouldn't want to come to Kildare's KOP and drink and party to support a good cause? Cost is $20 per person and half the proceeds will go towards our donation. OPEN BAR FOR AUTISM! 2010 Dogwood Prince & Princess Contest

The Phoenixville Jaycees , in conjunction with Dogwood Festival, Inc. is accepting applications for the 2010 Dogwood Prince & Princess Contest. Children between the ages of 5 to 8 years old, living in the Phoenixville Area School District, are eligible to enter the 2010 Dogwood Prince and Princess Contest. *All contest entries must be in by Monday April 12, 2010. SCA Hosting St. Patrick’s Day Hike and Treasure Hunt

On Sunday, March 21st, the Schuylkill Canal Association is hosting a St. Patrick’s Day Hike and Treasure Hunt: Join SCA and our friends as we celebrate the beginning of spring with one of our annual favorites – the St. Patrick’s Day Hike and Treasure Hunt. Hikers will start the afternoon off at 1:00 PM meeting in the parking lot behind the Pickering Creek Inn, at the end of Bridge Street in Phoenixville. The group will walk from Phoenixville, across the Schuylkill River and down the towpath to Lock 60. Upon reaching the Lock 60 picnic grove, children of all ages can join in with a Treasure Hunt. Gold coins will be scattered throughout the field to be gathered by the children; the coins are then turned in for prizes at the Locktender’s House after the hunt. Summer Music Series Schedule Announced

The fifth annual Summer Music Series schedule has been announced. The Main Street CDC has finalized plans for the Summer Street Music Series. This year all events will be held on Friday. The series is currently in it’s fifth year and offers a variety of entertainment on the street on Fridays from the first Friday in June to the first Friday in September. The Street Music Series features local acts throughout the downtown starting at 6 PM. Many of the acts are local and from the surrounding community. In addition to the music acts there will be magic acts, balloon sculpture as well as hacky sack games. The Main Stage acts start at 7:30 and go to approximately 9:30 PM. View the full schedule here

Construction Of New Middle School To Begin On The Last Day Of School

From the Phoenix : Construction of the new Phoenixville Area Middle School is scheduled to begin on the last day of the current school year. During a recent school board meeting, Damion Spahr, regional vice president of Reynold Construction Management, gave the school board an update on the status of the $60 million middle school project. Spahr said that his company will begin receiving bids to do the work on March 11, 2010. "We've had a lot of contractors come by and pick up information to bid on the job," Spahr informed the board. "We would like to have a Notice To Proceed on or before May 3, 2010." With construction scheduled to begin on the last day of the current school year, Spahr said that they anticipate having the new school completely constructed by the summer of 2012. "We would like to have it done by then for fall 2012 occupancy," he said. Read the full article here .

Historical Society of the Phoenixville Area Opening a New Exhibit on First Friday, March 5th

The Historical Society of the Phoenixville Area is excited to announce the opening of our new exhibit which has its grand opening on Friday evening, March 5, 2010 at 6:00 PM at the Society's headquarters located at 204 Church Street in Phoenixville, PA. It coincides with other First Fruiday events occurring in Phoenixville. The exhibit is free and open to the public, and light refreshments will be served. This exhibit has many photographs and memorabilia. Taste of Home Cooking School Coming to Franklin Commons on Thursday, March 11

On Thursday March 11th, the Taste of Home Cooking School will be doing a presentation at Franklin Commons from 7-9pm. The event, which is being sponsored by the Daily Local News , "will showcase 10 recipes, new food products, kitchen shortcuts and plating techniques.
