Phoenixville has a cure for all of you who are looking for something to do on the weekend. At least for the next three weeks. No less that four pretty big events dot the calendar in that time period. It all starts on Friday night with the May First Friday festivities. If the weather reports are correct this could be the first one with decent weather in quite awhile. Unfortunately I do not have any details but I would imagine it'll have quite a turnout as people will be enjoying what should be a beautiful spring evening.
The next event will be held the very next day. The first annual 'Springtime in Paris' fair will be held on Saturday, May 5th. The fair gets its name from the rumor that steel made in Phoenixville was used in the construction of the Eiffel Tower. The fair was organized by Paul Oliver, owner of Wolfgang Books, and Richard Holck Sr, owner of Artisans Gallery & Cafe. The fair will consist of 'strolling musicians, a fashion show, and wine, beer and cheese tastings.' It runs from 1-9pm with several local businesses participating. See the link below for more information.
On May 12th, another 'first annual' will come to Phoenixville. The Celtic Street Fair will take over Bridge St. from 10am-6:30pm and will feature Scottish bands, Celtic food and Irish step dance lessons for children. It is being sponsored by USA Kilts and will feature a performance by 'Enter the Haggis' who will be playing a show at The Colonial Theatre at 7:30 that night.
Finally, the 56th annual Dogwood Parade will be taking place on May 19th. The parade, which starts at Franklin and High St and winds its way through Phoenixville, will feature Dogwood Queen Maria Konstantinidis.
For more information on all of these, please see the article from this Sunday's Philadelphia Inquirer.

Local Business Spotlight: Earth Mart opens on Bridge St.
Phoenixville has a new face! Earth Mart, a retail store specializing in organic, recycled, sustainable, fair trade and locally produced products, held their grand opening last Friday, April 6th at the April First Friday. Co-owner and fellow reader Lisa Longo describes Earth Mart as....
---
Earth Mart is an environmental product department store. We feature products which are produced in a sustainable manner and which are either fair trade, organic, locally produced or recycled. Our store features everything from bedding to recycled glass dinnerware, prepared healthy whole foods and cleaning products.
---
Earth Mart is located at 235 Bridge Street. To get more information, please take a moment to visit their website at http://www.earthmartonline.com/. Or, even better, stop in the next time you are in the area!
Best of luck to Lisa, Alison and Cathy on what sounds like a great addition to Phoenixville.
